The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States has announced a $15 million reward for the capture of a Chinese national, Chjun, who is accused of illegally supplying military technologies to Iran.
According to the FBI, the Chinese citizen provided American electronic components to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its Quds Force through China and Hong Kong. The US has designated these organizations as foreign terrorist organizations, believing they have used these components to produce drones, ballistic missiles, and other military equipment.
Additionally, in 2024, the US Department of Justice charged three other Chinese nationals, besides Chjun, with illegally supplying components for military purposes to Iran.
According to a statement from the US State Department, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been financing many terrorist groups around the world, including HAMAS, Hezbollah, and Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq. Part of this financing is carried out through the sale of military equipment, including drones.
For reference, US President Donald Trump announced two weeks ago that he sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei proposing direct negotiations to prevent the development of nuclear weapons.
