Conor McGregor has announced that he wants to become the president of Ireland again
The former UFC champion Conor McGregor has announced his intention to run for president of Ireland on his X social media page.

"Ireland, the choice is in your hands, and it's very simple. Choose me as your president and together we will save Ireland," McGregor wrote.

In another post, he sharply criticized the migration pact approved by the European Union in May 2024. According to this document, countries must accept a specified number of migrants each year or pay funds to neighboring countries that have accepted them. Ireland must fulfill this obligation by June 12, 2026. McGregor believes this issue should be put to a referendum.

"Who else will stand against the government? Any candidate they present will never stand against them. But I can! If I were president, I would put this bill to a referendum. I am strongly against this pact, but this decision is independent of me and the government," he wrote.

Earlier this week, McGregor met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. During the briefing, he criticized the Irish government, stating that "the government sold the voice of the people and allowed migrants to occupy their cities in the regions."

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin responded to McGregor's statement by saying it "does not reflect the views of the Irish people."

McGregor first announced his intention to run for president in September 2024. The presidential elections in Ireland will take place in November 2025. The current president is 83-year-old Michael Higgins.

Additionally, in November 2023, a court found Conor McGregor guilty of raping a woman named Nikita Hend in Dublin and ordered him to pay the victim over 248,000 euros in compensation. The court later also required the athlete to pay an additional 1.5 million euros in compensation, which includes court costs.
