
At least 660 people have died and 929 have been injured as a result of monsoon rains that began at the end of June in Pakistan, Zamin.uz reported.
This was reported by the National Disaster Management Authority on Monday. Approximately 2,500 buildings were destroyed due to heavy rains and floods, more than 30,000 people were evacuated and placed in temporary shelters.
Various natural disasters caused significant damage to agriculture and livestock sectors, further intensifying economic losses. The highest number of casualties was recorded in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where 392 people died and 245 were injured.
In the northeastern Punjab province, 164 people died and 582 were injured. Deaths were also reported in Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other provinces.
Pakistani officials are implementing measures aimed at protecting the population and reducing the damage caused by natural disasters. They are actively engaged in providing necessary assistance and carrying out repair work.
The monsoon season usually lasts from June to September and provides important rainfall for agriculture. However, these rains often cause floods and other natural disasters.
The disasters that occurred during this season in Pakistan remain a major challenge for the country.
