A 102-year-old Japanese citizen, Kokichi Akuzawa, climbed the summit of Mount Fuji, which is 3,776 meters high, and entered the Guinness World Records as the oldest person in history. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The ascent lasted three days, and Akuzawa stayed two nights in huts on the mountain. The weather was favorable; there were no clouds in the sky for three days, and the wind was cool.
During the journey, several people accompanied him, including his 70-year-old daughter Moto. After reaching the summit, Akuzawa admitted that this achievement was not easy.
He said, “I am amazed that I climbed up. Without help, I could not have managed.
I am very happy now.” When asked about climbing Mount Fuji again, he replied, “Never,” but added jokingly, “If you ask me next year, I might have a different opinion.”
Before the climb, he had to spend several months recovering his health. In January, he fell on a nearby mountain and was diagnosed with shingles, as well as heart failure.
Akuzawa had climbed Mount Fuji before, making his last ascent at the age of 96. He is an honorary leader of the local mountaineering club and continues to climb mountains almost every week.
This demonstrates the strength of his health and willpower. Kokichi Akuzawa’s achievement serves as an inspiration to many.
