An important decision has been made regarding migration policy in the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on his social media page that the government has decided to temporarily suspend the issuance of work visas to foreign truck drivers. According to Rubio, the increasing number of foreign drivers operating large trailer trucks on US roads is negatively affecting not only road safety but also the earnings of local drivers in the labor market.
In his statement, he emphasized that the excessive increase in foreign drivers is adversely impacting the safety and economic interests of Americans. Additionally, according to reports, some foreign nationals are being subjected to additional financial requirements during the visa application process to enter the US.
For instance, a bond of up to $15,000 may be required for obtaining a visa. This amount will be refunded if the driver leaves the country on time.
Earlier, the US Department of State announced that it is conducting investigations into the potential violations of immigration laws by over 55 million foreign nationals holding valid visas. These measures are being implemented to strengthen national security and protect the interests of the local workforce.
