In March 2020, Shizuo Aishima, who was accused, arrested, and died during the investigation process, was honored by the Japanese police who placed flowers on his grave and apologized to his family. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This event took place on August 25, on the eve of a special ceremony. Although the deceased's family members accepted the apology from the officials, his wife emphasized that she could not forgive such an act.
Shizuo Aishima and his three colleagues were accused in 2019 of illegally exporting dryers from Japan to foreign markets that could be used for military purposes. The deceased's company denied these charges, stating that they complied with export restrictions.
In July 2021, the Japanese prosecution dropped the charges. Shizuo Aishima died during the investigation due to stomach cancer.
He applied for bail eight times, but all were rejected. In September 2021, the court found the charges unlawful and ordered the state to pay 166 million yen in compensation.
The verdict was not appealed and came into effect in June 2024. Prosecutor Hiroshi Ichikawa emphasized that this case brought new changes to Japan's law enforcement system and judicial proceedings.
The outcome of the Aishima case holds not only legal but also social and moral significance, paving the way for fair decisions in the judicial system in the future. This event and the apology given are expected to serve as a basis for reforms in the country.
