In recent years, the summer period in the USA has been very hot. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Heat waves pose a serious threat to people's health. Doctors receive cases related to heat strokes every summer, especially among children and the elderly.

Air conditioning has become an essential tool for saving lives. However, millions of Americans cannot use air conditioning.

In 2020, approximately 34 million households were unable to pay for electricity. Many had to reduce expenses on food and medicine to pay their electricity bills.

Low-income families are particularly in a difficult situation. They spend more than ten percent of their income on energy, which is significantly higher than the average.

For this reason, many are forced to turn on air conditioning only when absolutely necessary. The “Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program” (Liheap), established by the US Congress in 1981, allocated $4.1 billion annually to assist millions of low-income families.

However, in 2025, the staff of this program was reduced, and the administration announced plans to terminate it completely. Experts emphasize that such a decision poses a serious threat to the lives of hundreds of thousands of families.

Due to climate change, heat waves are expected to intensify further. Therefore, access to energy is becoming increasingly important for people's lives.
