The Government of the Republic of Turkmenistan plans to completely ban tobacco smoking within the country by the end of 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to official sources, this decision is being made to protect the health of the population and to prevent various diseases. According to data from the World Health Organization, Turkmenistan's population is approximately 7 million people, of whom only 7 percent consume tobacco products.
This figure is among the lowest in Central Asian countries. The country has been implementing a strict policy against tobacco products for several years, and the results are noticeably evident.
In recent years, there has been a significant decrease in the number of smokers. In this process, promotional campaigns, restrictions on the sale of tobacco products, as well as educational programs conducted in schools and workplaces play an important role.
Anti-smoking laws are strictly enforced not only in private spaces but also in public places, workplaces, institutions, and transportation vehicles. Medical specialists in Turkmenistan also support this initiative.
According to them, the reduction in the number of smokers is important not only for preventing respiratory diseases but also for preventing heart disease, stroke, and cancer. These measures serve to improve the health of the country's population.
