According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, announced via Telegram on September 1, Ukrainian unmanned drones destroyed two Russian Mi-8 helicopters at the Gvardeyskoye airfield in Simferopol district of Russian-occupied Crimea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
It was noted that the airport infrastructure was also damaged as a result of the attack. This operation was carried out based on an intelligence plan.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the destroyed helicopters are estimated to be worth approximately 20 to 30 million dollars. Additionally, a raid tugboat, possibly the BUK-2190, was also destroyed in the Sevastopol bay.
This action dealt a serious blow to the combat capabilities of the reconnaissance diver units within the underwater diversion forces. The press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate emphasized that the damage to the tugboat significantly reduced the ability of the Russian elite unit to carry out special tasks.
This directly affects the fleet's ability to conduct special operations. At the same time, the destruction of the Mi-8 helicopters at the Gvardeyskoye airfield and the disabling of the tugboat in Sevastopol are assessed as the next regional attack aimed at weakening logistics and special operations capabilities on the joint front.
Additional technical details of the operation have not yet been disclosed.
