Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the Slovak leadership to impose an energy blockade in order to exert additional pressure on Ukraine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Putin, it is necessary to stop the reverse supply of gas and cut off electricity to curb Kyiv's aggression against the interests of other countries. He expressed these views in an interview with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on September 2 in Beijing.
He also strongly criticized Ukraine's drone strikes on the "Druzhba" oil pipeline. As the only European leader participating in the ceremony held in China to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan in World War II, Robert Fico also condemned Kyiv's actions.
On September 5, he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and promised to pay special attention to ensuring the security of the oil pipeline. During the meeting, Putin highly appreciated Slovakia's independent foreign policy and expressed gratitude to Fico.
The Slovak Prime Minister, in turn, criticized the European Union, comparing it to an organization that cannot properly assess world events and has limited capabilities. He stated that he respects the European Union but emphasized its inability to adequately respond to global problems.
At the same time, Fico openly expressed his country's desire to continue cooperation with Russia in the energy sector and to purchase oil and gas from Moscow.
