On September 10, in Betma city, Madhya Pradesh state of India, an 11-year-old girl died during a physical education class at school. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Lakshita, a sixth-grade student, suddenly became tired while doing sports exercises, sat down on the ground, and lost consciousness after a few seconds. The physical education teacher quickly tried to take her to a local hospital, and later she was transferred to another medical facility.
However, all resuscitation efforts by the doctors were unsuccessful. The forensic examination revealed that the girl's heart stopped during the exercise, which caused her death.
One of the neighbors said that there were no heart diseases in the family, but Lakshita's weight was very high for her age, namely 74 kilograms. This excess weight may have negatively affected her heart.
This incident highlighted not only locally but throughout India how serious the problem of overweight is. According to the latest UNICEF report, one in ten children aged 5 to 19 worldwide suffers from obesity.
This global issue negatively impacts children's health. Therefore, promoting a healthy lifestyle among children, properly organizing sports activities, and preventing excess weight are very important matters for parents and society.
This case demands serious attention to overweight and health problems.
