
Temporary restrictions have been imposed in the Khovd province of Mongolia due to the detection of symptoms resembling the plague. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to local authorities, cases with symptoms characteristic of the plague have been recorded in the Bulgan village. Following this, the administration decided to suspend mass events, continue the educational process remotely in schools, and carry out necessary preventive and disinfection measures.
Movement of citizens in Khovd province is restricted, and entry and exit of vehicles are controlled. Some retail outlets and public catering establishments have been temporarily closed.
Medical institutions are monitoring individuals who have been in contact with those infected with the contagious disease. Earlier, strict restrictions were also imposed in the Khubsugul province due to the risk of plague spread.
In that region as well, the movement of the population, transport services, markets, and catering establishments have been temporarily restricted. According to the health service data as of September 12, 2025, 110 citizens who had close contact with 3 patients infected with the plague are under medical supervision.
Each of them has been individually registered and is under medical observation. Additional information indicates that as of August 2025, plague outbreaks have been identified in 130 settlements across 17 provinces of Mongolia.
From 2014 to 2024, a total of 20 people contracted the plague in the country, of whom 9 died. These cases require strengthening precautionary measures in the healthcare sector.
