Typhoon fighter jets belonging to the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force are tasked with protecting Polish airspace as part of NATO's "Eastern Guardian" operation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main objective of this mission is to prevent aerial threats from Russia, including attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles. The UK government announced this in an official statement on September 15.
The statement said that the Royal Air Force is operating in cooperation with the air forces of Germany, Denmark, and France to strengthen NATO's eastern flank. This measure was introduced following the dangerous violations of Polish sovereign airspace by Russian drones and similar incidents that occurred in Romanian airspace on September 13.
NATO considers these incidents among the most serious cases of airspace violations. The Typhoon fighters are stationed at the Coningsby military base in Lincolnshire and will begin patrol flights over Polish airspace in the coming days.
They are supported by Voyager refueling aircraft from the Brize Norton airbase and special logistics teams. This mission is not only important for ensuring the security of Polish airspace but also for the safety of the entire NATO airspace, countering potential threats from Russia, and strengthening cooperation among allies.
