A severe punishment is expected for the person suspected of attempting to assassinate the famous conservative activist Charlie Kirk in the USA. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The country's Attorney General Pamela Jo Bondi stated in an interview with Fox News that the suspect is planned to be charged with first-degree murder and that there is a high possibility of the death penalty being imposed according to Utah state laws. Bondi emphasized that the state governor has also clearly expressed the demand for the death penalty for such a serious crime.
The Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kashyap Patel, also confirmed that there is evidence supporting the suspect's guilt. According to him, the suspect admitted to the crime in his writings and there is DNA evidence found on the weapon used in the crime.
According to information, the assassination occurred on September 10 in a university campus in Utah. While Charlie Kirk was addressing students, a shot was fired from approximately 800 meters away, hitting his neck.
Although emergency services took him to the hospital, he passed away within a few hours. The suspect in the murder is a 22-year-old student, Tayler Robinson, who was arrested by the police several days later.
Interestingly, the person who handed him over to the law is his father, who served in the police for 27 years. According to information, the attacker's actions were related to the deceased activist's political views.
Currently, the investigation process against Tayler Robinson is ongoing. If the court confirms the charges, he will be punished with the severest penalty under Utah state laws – the death penalty.
