The Consulate General in Kazan issued an official statement regarding the temporary detention of an Uzbek citizen in Kazan for 45 days. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A video circulating on social media showed that an Uzbek citizen had been held for over 45 days in a temporary detention facility for foreign nationals in Kazan and was seeking assistance to return to his homeland. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that this individual is M.A., a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
(Born in 1983) On August 2, 2025, administrative measures were applied against M.A. under Article 18.8, Part 1.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, and a decision was made to deport him from the territory of Russia.
Additionally, it was revealed that M.A. was held accountable under the same article on July 11, 2025.
Since it was found that the stamps regarding crossing the Russian state border in the citizen's foreign travel passport were forged, the document was sent for expert examination. This allowed for a thorough investigation of the legal and security aspects of the incident.
On September 2, 2025, the Internal Migration Department of the Saratov region sent a request to the Consulate General to issue a certificate for M.A. to return to Uzbekistan.
The request was promptly and positively resolved by the Consulate. Currently, a representative from the Saratov region’s internal migration office is expected to make an official visit to Kazan.
The Consulate General in Kazan has taken this matter under its control and continues to take all necessary measures. This process is considered important from the standpoint of protecting the citizen's rights, effectively providing consular assistance, and complying with international legal requirements.
