The Kamchatka Peninsula has once again faced a strong natural disaster. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the US Geological Survey, on September 18, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred near the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The epicenter of the disaster was located about 128 kilometers from the city, on the ocean floor, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
After the earthquake, American meteorologists warned of a possible tsunami threat. Accordingly, the governor of Kamchatka Krai, Vladimir Solodov, stated that all services have been put on high alert.
Local seismologists assessed the magnitude as 7.2 and announced a tsunami warning on the eastern coast of the peninsula. So far, there is no information about casualties or major destruction.
At the same time, rescuers have begun rapid inspections of public buildings and residential areas. The local population is strongly advised to strictly follow precautionary measures.
Experts emphasize that the Kamchatka region is a naturally seismically active area. Residents here must be prepared for any emergency situation.
Strong earthquakes not only damage infrastructure but also negatively affect people's mental state. For this reason, local authorities are taking necessary measures to prevent all risks, evacuate the population, and create favorable conditions.
The population is advised to strictly adhere to the recommendations provided to ensure their safety.
