
The list of the most expensive areas to live in Central Asian cities has been announced. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the ranking prepared by the “Numbeo” portal based on the results of the first half of this year, Almaty city in Kazakhstan was recognized as the most expensive city in the region. In the report, Almaty ranked 346th globally with a cost of living index of 29.4 points.
This result elevated it to the leading city status not only in Kazakhstan but throughout Central Asia. The ranking also shows the positions of other cities.
The capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, is placed 364th with an index of 26.8. Another major city in Kazakhstan, Astana, ranked 366th with an index of 26.5.
The capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, was recorded at 370th place with an index of 26.2. Data from cities in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were not included in this report.
According to information about living expenses in Tashkent, the average monthly costs for a family of four, excluding housing rent, amount to approximately 23 million 39 thousand soms. For a single person, this figure is around 6 million 437 thousand soms.
Additionally, the cost of living in Tashkent is 72.2% cheaper compared to New York City. The difference in housing rent is even greater, with rental prices in Tashkent being on average 84.5% cheaper than those in New York.
