In Kyiv region, it was revealed that 13 Uzbek citizens were illegally forced into slavery, causing a major public outcry. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to information provided by the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office, this crime was organized by two Chinese citizens, one Uzbek, and a Ukrainian woman. Currently, all these individuals have been detained and a court trial is expected to begin.
According to the investigation, the victims were mainly selected from people living in difficult conditions, homeless and facing financial hardships. They were promised decent jobs and conditions in Ukraine, but in reality, the situation was completely different.
Their freedom of movement was restricted in the rooms where they were placed, they were constantly monitored, and forced to work. They were even compelled to meet their daily needs according to a strictly set schedule.
Additionally, permission was required to use the restroom, and punishments and fines were imposed for minor violations. Law enforcement agencies conducted raids on the criminals' homes and business premises, uncovering that 13 Uzbek citizens were living in inhumane conditions.
At the same time, relevant documents, cash, and vehicles were confiscated. Currently, the suspects face serious charges such as “human trafficking” and “forced labor.”
All four individuals are under investigation for these crimes. This case once again highlights how serious the problems of forced labor and human trafficking are worldwide.
Although the punishment of the criminals is delayed justice for the victims, their release is an important step toward freedom.
