A 23-year-old Uzbek citizen died in a construction accident in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The tragic incident occurred on September 16 during the construction of the new building of the Supreme Court of Russia. According to preliminary information, the deceased young man lost his balance and fell while working on scaffolding at a height of 15 meters.
As a result, he sustained severe injuries and passed away before reaching the hospital. According to the North-West Interregional Labor Inspectorate, the deceased worker did not have an official employment contract with the employer.
During the investigation, the possibility of non-compliance with labor safety regulations is also being considered. According to the inspection authorities, the main causes include the absence of personal protective equipment, insufficient supervision during work at height, and weak collective safety measures.
Currently, an official inquiry into the incident is underway. During the investigation, responsible individuals at the construction site are planned to be questioned.
Additionally, proposals to strengthen labor protection rules are expected to be developed. This incident once again highlighted the critical importance of strict adherence to safety regulations for Uzbek workers employed abroad.
Working conditions and safety measures must always be prioritized.
