According to official sources, three MiG-31 aircraft entered Estonian territory over the Gulf of Finland for twelve minutes. This incident was assessed as a threat to the country's territorial integrity.
At the time of the event, Finnish and Swedish aircraft immediately took off. Additionally, Italian F-35 fighters stationed in Estonian territory expelled the Russian aircraft from the area.
The Russian side denied the accusations, emphasizing that the aircraft acted in accordance with international regulations. The Estonian Prime Minister stated the necessity for NATO to respond firmly and collectively to such conflict situations.
He also stressed the importance of consulting with allies regarding the situation. Recently, Poland and Romania also reported violations of their airspace by Russian drones.
In response, NATO continues to strengthen troops and aircraft in Eastern Europe. These actions are aimed at ensuring regional security.
