US President Donald Trump has signed an order introducing new regulations regarding work visas. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Reuters agency, under the new rule, companies will be charged a fee of 100 thousand US dollars for processing the most commonly used H-1B work visa for foreign skilled specialists. This is approximately 500 times higher than the current fees.
This decision could have a significant impact especially on the technology sector of the United States. Large IT companies in the country often rely on skilled specialists coming from India and China.
The new regulation is likely to significantly reduce this flow of personnel. The US issues approximately 85 thousand H-1B visas annually.
These visas are mainly intended for highly qualified IT specialists, engineers, scientists, and researchers. The sharp increase in fees will be an additional financial burden for large corporations and may limit the ability of startups and small businesses to hire foreign personnel.
The US government explains this decision as a measure to protect the national labor market and create jobs for American specialists. However, large technology companies, international businesses, and experts are strongly criticizing this decision.
According to experts, this step could have a dual impact on the American economy. On one hand, opportunities for local specialists may expand, but on the other hand, large IT corporations may face challenges in competitiveness and innovation.
