Taliban refused to return Bagram airbase
A representative of the Taliban movement ruling Afghanistan, Zabihullo Mujahid, responded to US President Donald Trump's demand to return the Bagram airbase. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to him, Afghanistan will under no circumstances give up its territory and will not allow interference in the country's internal affairs. The Bagram airbase was the largest strategic point for American troops in Afghanistan, and they left this place in 2021.

The Taliban representatives emphasize that according to the agreement signed in Doha, the United States has committed not to threaten Afghanistan's territorial integrity and not to interfere in its internal affairs. Therefore, they must fulfill their promises.

In his statement, Zabihullo Mujahid said that Afghanistan is striving to establish mutually beneficial and constructive relations with all countries, while the US needs to conduct a rational and pragmatic policy without repeating past mistakes. On this topic, the head of the country's Ministry of Defense staff, Fasihuddin Fitrat, also expressed his opinion.

He stressed that the issue of "returning the base" cannot be resolved through political agreement, and that not an inch of Afghanistan's land is a trade object. According to Politico, there is currently no information that US officials are conducting open negotiations with Afghanistan regarding the Bagram base.

However, following Trump's sharp statements, the situation has become more urgent. Earlier, Trump warned on his social network that if Afghanistan does not return the Bagram base, there will be severe consequences.

He also accused the Joe Biden administration of handing over the airbase to the Taliban, thereby giving China an opportunity to influence the region. After US troops withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban quickly took full control of the country.

Currently, the issue of the Bagram airbase has become a new point of contention in relations between Washington and Kabul.
