Oxford University has become the first institution in the United Kingdom to allow all its students and staff to use the educational version of the ChatGPT artificial intelligence platform. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
ChatGPT Edu, specially developed by OpenAI for education, has been successfully tested over the past year and is now planned to be widely implemented at Oxford. This project is being carried out as part of a five-year partnership program announced in March.
Professor Anna Trefethen, the university’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Digital Education, called this step an important achievement in the process of digital transformation. She emphasized that the platform will help accelerate curiosity-driven research and innovation, as well as find solutions to global challenges.
Students will be able to use ChatGPT Edu as an effective tool to enrich knowledge, learn, and develop creative work. ChatGPT Edu is specially designed for universities, focusing on ensuring data privacy and security.
More than 750 academic staff, students, and specialists participated in the trial process. Jayna Devani, OpenAI’s international head of education, highlighted that Oxford University’s program is setting a new standard for how artificial intelligence can be effectively applied in higher education.
The university will also organize training sessions dedicated to ethical guidelines, critical thinking, and responsible approaches to the use of ChatGPT Edu and other generative artificial intelligence tools. This will serve to improve the quality of the educational process.
