According to reports, large funds allocated to people affected by typhoons and floods did not reach their destination. As a result, efforts to mitigate the consequences of the natural disaster were not carried out at all, and the funds disappeared.
This situation sparked strong protests and anger among students and the wider public. Clashes intensified during the demonstrations.
The crowd set car tires on fire in the streets and fought against the police with stones and bottles they caught. During the events, about 40 law enforcement officers were injured, and 17 people were detained.
According to The Guardian, it was revealed that 17.6 billion dollars from the state budget went missing. Additionally, the finance minister had previously made a public statement that approximately 70 percent of the funds allocated for state infrastructure were lost due to corruption.
These events are causing serious social and political problems in the country.
