US President Donald Trump called China and India the main sponsors of the war in Ukraine during his speech at the UN General Assembly held in New York on September 23. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Trump, these two countries continue economic relations with Russia and purchase Russian oil products. He stated that China and India play a significant role in financing Russia's actions in the war.
Additionally, Trump criticized European countries for continuing to buy Russian energy resources. He described this situation as "shameful" and emphasized that European countries should stop purchasing oil and gas while they are at war with Russia.
Trump believes that European countries cannot continue such a policy and need to take more active measures. On the other hand, Chinese Foreign Ministry official spokesperson Geng Shuang stated that China holds a fair and impartial position regarding the Ukraine crisis and is neither the initiator nor a participant in this conflict.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed support for efforts aimed at peacefully resolving disputes between countries and restoring peace. The US Treasury Department called on European Union countries and members of the G7 group to stop purchasing Russian oil until the war in Ukraine ends.
It was also announced that serious sanctions might be imposed against China and India. The Chinese Foreign Ministry assessed these calls as economic pressure and intimidation.
