At the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City, U.S. President Donald Trump made a serious statement. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
One of the questions posed to him concerned the Russian military air forces and the issue of shooting down planes that enter NATO territory. When asked about this, Trump responded, “Yes, I agree.”
At the same time, when asked whether American forces are ready to assist allied countries in such situations, he did not give a clear answer, stating only, “It depends on the situation.” The White House leader also participated in a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that day.
At the conference, Trump said he does not expect the large-scale military conflict between Russia and Ukraine to end soon. He emphasized that the Russian economy is facing a serious decline, while Ukraine is accomplishing significant tasks, drawing the attention of the entire world.
Zelenskyy announced that over the past month, the Ukrainian army has regained control over 360 square kilometers of territory. He also reported that more than a thousand Russian soldiers have been surrounded by Ukrainian forces.
Based on this situation, Kyiv hopes to exchange captured Russian soldiers for Ukrainian prisoners. Additionally, Zelenskyy expects Western countries to impose even tougher sanctions against Russia.
He openly expressed full support for the U.S. president’s views on the necessity for European countries to stop purchasing Russian oil and gas. “We are united in this, and European countries should support it as well,” he said.
Thus, these statements made from the UN podium indicate an increase in tensions in world politics. The subsequent positions of NATO countries, the European Union, and the United States will determine the direction of the development of international relations.
