The leadership of Oregon state and its largest city, Portland, filed a lawsuit against the federal government on September 28. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
They accuse President Donald Trump's administration of overstepping its authority. The lawsuit states that the Trump administration violated constitutional rules by calling Oregon National Guard soldiers into federal service.
Although these measures were taken to combat unrest, state attorneys believe that in reality, this action serves to intensify protest sentiments rather than ensure public safety. According to the lawsuit documents, the defendants' uncontrolled and provocative actions lead not to strengthening security but rather to increasing public discontent.
In court, President Donald Trump, Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and other relevant federal agencies are named as defendants. Additionally, on the day the lawsuit was filed, the Defense Secretary issued a special memorandum.
It stipulated that 200 Oregon National Guard members would be called to 60 days of federal service. This matter is currently under consideration in federal court and may lead to new controversies in U.S. politics.
