The European Union will allocate two billion euros to develop drone production in Ukraine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. According to her, Ukraine is the first line of defense for Europe, and therefore it is necessary to strengthen military aid.
For this reason, it was decided to allocate additional funds for drone production. The allocated funds will help enhance Kyiv's defense capabilities and provide EU countries with access to modern drone technologies.
Recently, EU countries have been under threat from Russian drones. For example, more than twenty drones entering Polish airspace have sparked significant discussions.
Experts emphasize that destroying them with fighter jets is costly and that this situation could lead to vulnerabilities in the future. Therefore, the European Commission proposed a project called the "drone wall."
Within this project, EU countries plan to jointly purchase more affordable defense systems. Initially, this initiative was intended to be implemented at the eastern borders, but due to an increase in unidentified drones in Denmark, it has been proposed to expand the project across the entire EU territory.
Additionally, the European Union aims to establish a "drone alliance" with Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, drone production in Ukraine has increased significantly.
While thousands of drones were produced in 2022, by 2025 hundreds of thousands of devices are being manufactured monthly. Moreover, an unmanned systems force has been established in Ukraine.
At the end of September, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced the introduction of special defense systems against drones in the armed forces.
