As a result of an undercover investigation conducted by the BBC, cases of racism and discrimination against women were uncovered within the London Metropolitan Police. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A journalist worked within the police force for seven months, exposing the violence of officers and their racist attitudes towards immigrants. Videos showed Sergeant Jo McIlven using harsh language towards women.
Additionally, it was revealed that other officers committed violence against detainees and expressed racist views. Following the investigation, eight officers were temporarily suspended, and two more were removed from front-line duties.
Police Chief Sir Mark Rowley emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable. The leadership has firmly committed to continuing the fight against racism and discrimination.
These incidents indicate that longstanding problems within the police still persist. Thus, important measures are being taken within the London Metropolitan Police to ensure human rights and principles of equality.
