Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkiyon spoke about the necessity of relocating the country's capital from Tehran during a meeting with entrepreneurs in Hormozgan province. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, this issue is not a choice but an important and mandatory need. The president emphasized that he has informed the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei about the need to move the capital towards the Persian Gulf.
Environmental problems such as decreasing water reserves, land subsidence, and increasing air pollution demand such a decision. In some areas of Tehran, land subsidence has reached 30 centimeters.
Since Pezeshkiyon took office, this issue has been discussed many times. In his opinion, locating the country's capital in the south, on the seashore, will have economic, political, and ecological advantages.
The serious problems of water shortage, air pollution, and soil subsidence in Tehran further increase the necessity of relocating the capital. Tehran is Iran's largest city, with a population of over 13 million.
It has been the country's capital since 1795. The issue of moving the capital to another region has been discussed several times before, notably in 2009, 2013, and 2017.
Currently, the president's proposals clearly demonstrate the necessity of moving the capital to the Persian Gulf. This decision will be important not only for economic development but also for ecological sustainability and the long-term preservation of water reserves.
Thus, relocating the capital is essential for Iran and will help prevent potential problems that may arise in the future.
