According to reports, the charges against Suleymanov are related to the death of Georgiy Tal, the head of a federal service dealing with financial rehabilitation and bankruptcy issues in the 2000s. Tal was shot dead in 2004.
Additionally, Suleymanov is suspected of involvement in the death of Gennadiy Borisov, the CEO of the airline "Vnukovskiye avialinii." Borisov died in 1999 as a result of a stabbing.
This is not the first time Ibragim Suleymanov has been detained. In October 2004, he was accused of extortion and embezzlement of more than 4.5 million dollars.
In 2007, he was found guilty of extortion, money laundering, threats involving the use of force, and illegal possession of weapons, and was sentenced to 10 years and 8 months in prison. He was released early in 2015.
