A serious disaster occurred in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh due to a severe landslide. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In Bilaspur district, a private bus carrying 30 passengers was completely buried under a landslide that occurred at the foothills. According to reports, the incident took place near the Ball-u bridge.
While the bus was traveling from Marotan city towards Kalaul, heavy rains caused the soil layer to slide down, trapping the vehicle underneath. Currently, emergency services and rescuers are diligently continuing search operations.
According to official information, the bodies of 18 deceased have been found so far. The search efforts are not yet complete as the risk of landslides in the area persists.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. He also announced that compensation will be provided to the victims' relatives from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
According to the local weather service, the number of landslides has significantly increased recently due to heavy rainfall in the region. The government is urging citizens to exercise caution and recommends avoiding travel in mountainous areas.
This incident once again highlights the need to strengthen safety measures in the region.
