Instagram introduces new safety restrictions for teenagers
Instagram social network is introducing new restrictions to ensure the safety of teenagers. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

From now on, content for users under 18 will be filtered according to the PG-13 rating. This means they will not be able to see materials related to violence, inappropriate scenes, or drugs.

According to the company, these settings can only be changed with the permission of a parent or guardian. The user cannot independently disable these restrictions.

Additionally, Instagram is launching a stricter filter called “Restricted Content.” This filter prohibits teenagers from viewing and commenting on certain types of posts.

The company plans to apply this filter to artificial intelligence chats starting in 2026. That is, when a young user interacts with AI, they will not encounter age-inappropriate content.

Furthermore, Instagram protects teenagers from accounts that post age-inappropriate content. If a user under 18 subscribes to such an account, they will not be able to see its posts, interact with it, and these pages will be removed from recommendation lists.

So far, these updates have been implemented in the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. The company plans to roll out these features worldwide next year.

These measures are aimed at increasing the safety of teenagers on social networks.
