New debates have emerged in world politics. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to US President Donald Trump, member states of the BRICS organization have begun to leave the union due to economic pressure applied by Washington. Trump announced this during a meeting at the White House with Argentine President Javier Milei.
He stated that clear warnings were given to countries wishing to join BRICS. Trump said, “If you want, join BRICS, but we will impose tariffs on you.”
After that, member states started to leave. They realized that BRICS is an organization against the strength of the dollar, and when Trump said he would impose tariffs on all products, they decided to leave the union.
Currently, this issue is not being widely discussed. The president's statement is being perceived as a new method of pressure in US foreign trade policy.
In his opinion, BRICS has become a platform striving to reduce the status of the US dollar in the world economy. BRICS was initially formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
Later, Egypt, UAE, Ethiopia, and Iran also became members. Starting from 2025, Indonesia is also planned to join the organization.
At the same time, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam cooperate with BRICS on a partnership basis. In July, Trump called BRICS a “political bloc against America” and announced that a 10% additional tariff would be imposed on countries supporting it.
So far, there has been no official information about BRICS or its members leaving the union. However, political analysts believe that Trump's pressure could intensify new geopolitical struggles in the global economy.
Thus, Trump's statement has once again escalated the political situation around BRICS. Whether his threat will become reality or not will become clear in the coming months.
