On Friday, US President Donald Trump received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main topic of the meeting was the possibility of selling long-range "Tomahawk" cruise missiles to Kiev. The Ukrainian side expressed a strong need for these weapons.
This meeting took place after Trump's lengthy phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Although Moscow accused Washington of escalating the conflict with this agreement, Trump remains firm on assisting the Ukrainian army.
Trump speculated before journalists that Putin wants to end the war and emphasized that the issue of selling "Tomahawk" missiles would be considered cautiously. Zelensky noted that following the situation in the Gaza Strip, Trump has gained strong motivation to stop Russia.
Trump stated that Ukraine needs weapons, Europe will be the payer for this, and he intends to put an end to the war. According to Trump, "Tomahawk" missiles are very dangerous weapons, and delivering them could escalate the conflict.
For this reason, Washington is choosing a cautious approach. The US president considers saving human lives his most important duty and emphasized that during his tenure, he has saved millions of lives.
Stopping the war in Ukraine is also part of this mission. Zelensky's visit to the White House was not limited to military aid; he also presented Trump with a business proposal in the field of fossil fuels.
The Ukrainian leader proposed enabling American companies to enter the European energy market by storing liquefied gas produced in the US in Ukrainian warehouses. On the same day, Zelensky met with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright and heads of major American companies, emphasizing the importance of restoring energy infrastructure and expanding American business participation in Ukraine.
So far, no definite agreement has been reached on the sale of "Tomahawk" missiles, but political analysts regard this negotiation as a symbol of Washington's strategic support for Kiev.
