The adoption process of black cats in the city of Terrassa, Spain, has been temporarily suspended. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The BBC publication provided this information. The local animal protection service decided not to accept applications for temporary care or permanent adoption of black cats from October 6 to November 10.
This decision was made to prevent harm to black cats or their misuse as symbols during the Halloween holiday. According to Noel Duke, deputy mayor of Terrassa, interest in black cats significantly increases every year before Halloween.
Currently, more than 9,800 cats live in the city, and there are approximately 100 cats in adoption centers, 12 of which are black. The city council regarded this measure as a temporary and cautious step and emphasized its importance in ensuring the safety and welfare of animals.
This decision is seen as a responsible approach to animal protection.
