In the city of Terrassa in the Catalonia region of Spain, the temporary adoption and care of black cats has been banned ahead of the Halloween holiday. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision was made to protect animal rights. According to the local animal protection service, interest in black cats sharply increases at the end of October.
However, experts emphasize that not all such requests come from affection. There have been cases where individuals take black cats for Halloween night rituals, decorations, or photo sessions and then abandon them.
For this reason, the city administration and animal protection organizations decided to suspend the temporary adoption of black cats from October 1 to November 10. This measure aims to protect animals from cruelty and mistreatment.
Currently, there are more than 10,000 homeless cats in Terrassa, with about a hundred kept in special centers. The large number of black cats makes their protection a particularly urgent issue.
The city council announced that the ban will remain in effect until November 10, after which the temporary adoption of black cats will resume. These temporary measures serve to ensure the safety of the animals.
Thus, the city of Terrassa is taking a new step in protecting animal rights.
