Fossilized bone remains of a dinosaur that lived 75 million years ago were found in Karakalpakstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Uzbekistan State Geological Museum announced this. The find was discovered during excavation research in the Sulton Uvays mountains.
This expedition was conducted in cooperation between scientists from Karakalpak State University and the Geological Museum. During the excavation, vertebrae, shin bones, and other bone fragments possibly belonging to an ancient predatory dinosaur were identified.
According to Ahmadjon Ahmedshayev, director of the Geological Museum, these bones date back to the Wolf period, and precise information and scientific classification will be announced after laboratory analyses. Currently, the rare specimens are being studied using specialized laboratory equipment.
The research results are expected to provide new information about the evolution of dinosaurs and the geological history of Central Asia. Scientists consider this discovery an important new stage for paleontological research in Uzbekistan.
This discovery will be of great significance not only for our country but also for the global scientific community. Excavation work in Karakalpakstan continues, and new findings are expected in the future.
