The European Commission has officially approved the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This new list of sanctions includes several banks from Central Asia and nearby regions. Specifically, VTB-Kazakhstan Bank, Tolubay Bank, Eurasian Development Bank (Kyrgyzstan), Dushanbe City Bank, Spitamen Bank, and Tajikistan Commercial Bank have been added to the European Union's "blacklist".
At the same time, it was announced that Uzbek banks have not been included in this list of sanctions. Today, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Brussels on an official visit.
Tomorrow, an Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union is scheduled to be signed. This agreement will serve to further strengthen bilateral relations.
It is noteworthy that the sanctions and political processes may impact the regional and international economy. The economic consequences of these decisions for Central Asian countries and their financial systems are being closely monitored.
