The famous Louvre Museum in France has significantly strengthened its security measures. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Reuters agency, following a theft incident last week, the museum moved some of its most valuable exhibits to a special vault of the Bank of France. The rare treasures kept in the Apollo Gallery were delivered under police supervision on October 24 to the bank's underground vault.
This vault is located on the right bank of the Seine River, just 500 meters from the Louvre, and the country's gold reserves are also stored there. So far, neither the Louvre Museum nor the Bank of France has issued an official statement.
It should be noted that on October 19, eight valuable items worth approximately 102 million dollars were stolen from the museum. According to investigation data, unknown individuals entered the museum's upper floor during working hours using a crane, climbed inside through a window, took the jewels, and fled on motorcycles.
The entire process lasted only four minutes. It was also discovered that the thieves were dressed in staff uniforms.
This incident caused a great stir not only in France but worldwide. Local media reported that many French citizens and cultural figures considered this event a national disgrace.
The government has begun implementing additional security measures to protect cultural assets. Such major thefts are very rare in the history of the Louvre Museum.
However, the recent event has once again prompted serious discussions about ensuring the safety of France's cultural heritage and valuable exhibits.
