Russian President Vladimir Putin recently announced the successful completion of new nuclear weapon tests. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This weapon is called “Burevestnik,” an intercontinental missile equipped with a nuclear warhead. Putin described this missile as unique, capable of flying unlimited distances, and a weapon not possessed by other countries.
According to him, the “Burevestnik” has successfully passed decisive tests, and now the necessary infrastructure is being created to deploy it into operational service. According to Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov, during the test conducted on October 21, the missile flew in the air for approximately 15 hours, covering a distance of 14,000 kilometers.
Gerasimov emphasized that this distance is not a limit and stated that the missile can bypass any defense system and reach its target with high precision. Putin stressed that the “Burevestnik” has further strengthened Russia’s nuclear potential.
The country is at the highest level of readiness, and the deployment of the missile in the armed forces is expected to begin in the near future. Putin first mentioned this missile in 2018 during his address to the Federal Assembly.
According to Western intelligence, the “Burevestnik” was tested 13 times between 2017 and 2019, but only two tests were relatively successful. In 2019, during a test, the missile crashed into the Barents Sea, causing an explosion.
As a result of this incident, seven people died, including scientists from the Sarov nuclear center. The explosion caused a radiation cloud that covered the Severodvinsk region and reportedly reached Scandinavia.
The latest test of the “Burevestnik” was conducted in 2023, with Putin then stating that the development was nearly complete. Currently, international experts hold varying opinions about this missile.
Some consider it a real threat, while others view it as a political symbol. Nevertheless, the success and danger of the “Burevestnik” are attracting significant attention on the international stage.
