At the Central City Clinical Hospital in Almaty, Kazakhstan, a 63-year-old woman saved the lives of several patients as a donor, the country's Ministry of Health reported. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The woman's heart was transplanted to a patient born in 1988. Additionally, her liver was transplanted to a patient born in 1982, her right kidney to a young man born in 1996, and her left kidney to a patient born in 1966.
The donor's corneas were transplanted to two patients — individuals born in 1983 and 1956 — restoring their vision. The transplantation procedures were organized by the Republican Transplant Center, with specialists from leading medical institutions in Almaty participating.
Doctors emphasized that despite the woman's age, her organs were in good condition and functioning successfully. This case once again proved that donor age is not a barrier to saving lives.
Representatives of the center expressed gratitude to the woman's family for their courageous decision and highlighted the coordinated efforts of the medical team. This event demonstrated once again the importance of organ donation and confirmed how crucial donors are in saving lives.
