An Uzbek woman was stabbed to death in Istanbul
A criminal incident that occurred in Istanbul, Turkey, has attracted the attention of national and international media. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

It has been revealed that Uzbek citizen Rustam Otamirzayev was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for stabbing to death his compatriot Vasilakhon Usmonova. The incident took place on April 18 in the Pendik district.

According to the investigation, during an argument between the couple, the man took the woman down to the basement of the house, first beat her, and then stabbed her several times. After the incident, he fled the scene.

In the indictment prepared by the Anadolu Chief Prosecutor's Office, Rustam Otamirzayev was charged with "intentional murder" and sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, as well as an additional 10–15 years for "armed robbery." The trial was held at the 17th High Criminal Court in Istanbul.

During the trial, the defendant admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and requested a lighter sentence to care for his 80-year-old mother. One of the witnesses described the event as follows: "I woke up to the sound of screaming in the morning.

The defendant was stabbing the woman in the neck and dragging her down to the basement. We asked for help, but he did not stop.

Within a few minutes, the woman became motionless." The public prosecutor fully supported the indictment and requested the defendant be sentenced to life imprisonment. The court panel found the indictment justified and read the verdict.

This tragedy has sparked widespread discussion not only in Turkey but also in Uzbekistan. Officials believe that this incident is a serious example of the consequences of jealousy and violence and highlights the need to strengthen preventive measures in society.
