A Russian crypto investor Roman Novak and his wife Anna died in the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to local media reports, this incident attracted public attention as it is suspected that a complex criminal scenario lies behind the event.
According to information, the couple last contacted their relatives a month ago. They were called to a meeting with unknown investors at their villa in the city of Hatta, and it was there that they were brutally killed.
According to the investigation, the main goal of the criminals was financial gain. They believed there was a large amount of money in Novak’s crypto wallet, but after finding the wallet empty, they killed the couple.
Then they dismembered the bodies, placed them in bags, and threw them into various containers. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case regarding this matter.
During the investigation, eight people were detained. Three of them came from Saint Petersburg, while the others assisted in carrying out the crime.
Investigators consider them the main organizers of the crime. According to the court decision, the suspects will remain in custody.
Roman Novak was known in Russia as a prominent businessman in the cryptocurrency field. He created a crypto transfer application called Fintopio and attracted a large amount of funds through it.
However, later reports emerged about the disappearance of these funds. Additionally, there were previous reports regarding Novak’s fraudulent activities.
He was convicted in 2020 for financial crimes. This tragedy revealed not only in Russia but also globally the risks associated with cryptocurrency investments.
The investigation is ongoing, but this incident once again highlighted how urgent the issues of risk and trust in the financial sector are.
