
On November 9, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in the northeastern region of Japan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Kyodo News agency reported this. The seismic event was recorded at a depth of 16 kilometers off the Sanriku coast at 17:03 local time.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a warning that there could be a tsunami risk of up to 1 meter for Iwate Prefecture. The earthquake was felt at a level 4 intensity in the Iwate and Miyagi regions.
So far, there have been no reports of major damage or injuries. Tsunami waves of 20 cm height were observed in the cities of Kuji and Ofunato, and waves of 10 cm height in Miyako and Kamaishi.
The Tohoku Shinkansen train service was temporarily suspended but later resumed. Experts are urging the public to remain alert and strictly follow seismic safety regulations.
