Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced his readiness to hold negotiations regarding the new peace plan proposed by the United States during a meeting with US Army representative Daniel Driscoll. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This step marks a new phase in the relations between Kyiv and Washington. It has been revealed that during the negotiations, it was discussed that the plan could be approved and signed in a short time.
This indicates that both parties are eager to accelerate the process. The main issue lies in Washington's demands.
The US has requested consideration of the possibility of handing over certain territories under Ukraine's control to Russia. Zelenskiy did not reject this demand but expressed his readiness to consider it as a basis for negotiations.
The peace plan being developed by the Trump administration consists of 28 points, including several controversial conditions. Among them are the transfer of Donbass to Russia, reduction of the Ukrainian army, renunciation of long-range weapons, granting official status to the Russian language, and the prohibition of foreign troop deployments.
These conditions are expected to cause serious debates not only within Ukrainian society but also among European countries. The US aims through this agreement to bring the war to a controlled end and restore security in Europe.
Zelenskiy prefers to discuss all proposals in detail rather than immediately rejecting or accepting them. This is seen as an important step that has introduced new dynamics into Kyiv's diplomatic activities.
At the same time, it is clear that these negotiations will be complex and contentious for Ukraine.
