Starting from November 24, women drivers in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, began operating passenger buses. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This news is considered an important step aimed at expanding the participation of women in the country's public transport system. In the initial phase, women drivers work under the supervision of experienced trainers.
A special training program was developed by the Azerbaijan Surface Transport Agency (AYNA), which provided candidates with both theoretical knowledge and practical exercises. This program includes not only driving skills but also knowledge of service culture, safety rules, and proper conduct under various road conditions.
During the training, women gained practical experience in maneuvering, stopping the bus, parking, and driving on complex roads. Candidates who successfully completed the training process passed independent driving tests on special routes.
Additionally, they underwent medical examinations, psychological assessments, and checks for compliance with safety requirements. As a result, women who met all the criteria started working as drivers at the BakuBus company.
The activity of women drivers in public transport in Baku serves as an important step towards ensuring gender equality and developing the sector.
