Due to severe air pollution in Tehran, the capital of Iran, all schools and higher education institutions were temporarily closed on November 24–25. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision was made to protect public health. According to local officials, as air quality has deteriorated, citizens are advised to avoid going outdoors as much as possible, use protective masks, and follow precautionary measures.
According to data from the air quality monitoring organization, since the beginning of 2025, clean air has been observed in Tehran for only 6 days. This indicates the seriousness of the ecological situation in the city.
According to the ranking of the international platform IQAir, Tehran currently ranks 10th among the capitals with the most polluted air in the world. At the same time, Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, also holds a high position in this ranking, placed 8th.
Experts emphasize the necessity to strengthen measures for environmental protection and improving the ecological situation.
