Japan to hold first summit with Central Asia
The Japanese government plans to hold the first summit with Central Asian countries in mid-December this year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to NHK television channel, the event was initially scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan in the summer of 2024.

However, the summit was canceled due to the risk of a strong earthquake that could occur in Japan. At that time, Fumio Kishida was serving as Japan's Prime Minister.

Earlier this summer in Tokyo, preparations were announced to develop a trade route between Central Asia and Europe. Additionally, reports emerged that Japan is interested in decarbonizing the Central Asian region and plans to attract investors to support the area.

Current Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi hopes that this summit will be an important opportunity to strengthen relations with the regional countries, ensure economic security, and develop cooperation in various fields. By early November 2025, Japan ranked 20th among Uzbekistan's trade partners.

The volume of goods exchanged between the two countries amounted to 326.8 million dollars. A year earlier, this figure was 336.3 million dollars.
