The US government plans to review relations with Europe, restore its influence in the Western Hemisphere, and increase its military power in the Indo-Pacific region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Reuters news agency, these goals are reflected in the US's updated national security strategy. The administration of US President Donald Trump emphasizes the necessity of restoring the Monroe Doctrine.
This doctrine is based on the principle of non-interference by European countries in the internal affairs of North and South American countries. In return, the US promised not to interfere in European internal politics.
The document assesses this approach as an effective way to restore US power and international leadership during the Trump era. At the same time, the US is concerned about China's growing influence in Latin American countries.
In particular, Washington plans to strengthen military cooperation with its allies to prevent a potential conflict with China over Taiwan. According to Jason Marczak, senior analyst for Latin America at the Atlantic Council, a return to the previous international order by the US is now impossible.
The updated strategy warns of the risk of a "civilizational loss" for Europe and notes that if they want to remain US allies, changes are necessary. Additionally, the US expresses its support for defending Western values.
Furthermore, the government shows interest in regulating the situation in Ukraine and restoring strategic stability with Russia.
